Led by Robin Norman, 10 weekly sessions are held per term on a Thursday evening at Ken Stimpson Community School, in Werrington.

Robin studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire, one of Europe’s top specialist music institutions, graduating with a first class honours degree in 1995. Since that time he has worked as musical director for a number of orchestras, concert bands and other ensembles, as well as performing around the world as a conductor and tuba player.

Sessions cost just £25.00 per term (plus a £5.00 joining fee for the first term and this includes a uniform polo shirt) and include:

  • Junior Band, Junior String, (4.30pm-5.30pm) Junior Groups accept members between Grades 1-3
  • Concert Band and Senior String Orchestra (5.45pm-7.15pm) Senior Groups from Grade 3+

Peterborough Youth Orchestra players are all Grade 6+.

The ensembles rehearse weekly and prepare new repertoire each term leading up to an end-of-term concert. The repertoire rehearsed and performed is wide ranging from ‘Bach to the Beatles’ and more.
